Again, the problem with this game mode is that they have tried to appeal to the mass market with songs that in my opinion should not be in a game called guitar hero! I end up saving my plays and use them to avoid playing mediocre songs that cycle through the channels. This game mode is where the majority of my gameplay time has been spent. ![]() You can also earn 'plays' and select one of your favourite songs from the list of music videos to play along to anytime. You are put up against nine other people when playing and then ranked based on your score during the song. The more songs you play the more special abilities you can unlock to score extra points. You can drop in and drop out scoring points for playing songs. The Live mode is far better! There are two music channels where music videos play 24/7. In this game I only found one song in the career mode that I liked and purchased. I would then buy and listen to those songs and be exposed to new music even outside of metal. Part of what made the old guitar hero games so great was that I would know a selection of songs before playing the game and then I would play all the songs and find new bands and songs that I had never heard of. For disclosure purposes I am massively into metal music and found that there was barely anything in the career mode that appealed to my music tastes. Judging by other reviews this hasn't paid off! The game is called guitar hero and lots of the songs are basic, easy to play, and not even songs where the guitar is the main focus. I also found that once I had played a full set I have actually never played most of the songs again! There were very few songs that I liked or even just enjoyed, I actually got bored and found some sets so tedious that I had to force myself to play them!! I felt that the developers had tried to appeal to the most amount of people and have chosen 'safe', middle of the road, songs. I have to say that I disliked all of the bands and found most of the characters really irritating. ![]() Your band mates interact with you whilst you're playing and both the band members and the crowd react to how well you play the song. You play in first person in front of a 'real' crowd of people. This game itself is not without its faults! There are two game modes, one being like a career mode and the second being 'Live' where you play along to guitar hero music channels with real music videos.įirstly I was massively underwhelmed by the career mode. another new guitar hero controller that is not compatible with any other game at this time! Also the drums and bass parts are not available in this game, the focus is on the guitar. It also means you are closer to playing chord structure on a regular guitar. The new layout allows you to play without burning out your little finger. With the old games I always found my little finger was not strong enough to play on expert difficulty for a long period of time. At first I found it quite hard to adapt to the new layout but now having played for around twenty hours I have to say that I actually really enjoy playing with the new controller. Now with six buttons set up in two rows of three it's like learning a whole new game. I was really excited when the new game was announced and intrigued by the new guitar. I have played all of the previous guitar hero games and I am a huge fan of the series. The GHTV button lets you jump straight into GHTV from anywhere in the game. Use the guitars tilt sensor or the new Hero Power button to activate one of the many newly available Hero powers. ![]() The strum bar you know and love is back in all its glory, and the classic whammy bar makes a triumphant return to help you show off your flair. The guitar controller has been updated to reflect the new style and realism of Guitar Hero Live. The new 2 x 3 button layout makes it easier to play with only three buttons or, on veteran difficulty, it starts to mirror what its like to play chord shapes with all six buttons, making the game easier for beginners and harder for experts. The guitar controller has been redesigned for the best gameplay across all skill levels. Or switch over to GHTV, a playable music video network, where you can play along in real time, discover new music, and challenge friends around the world. GH Live mode puts you onstage, looking out: you get a heart-stopping first-person perspective as a real crowd reacts to the notes you play. FreeStyleGames have reinvented the legendary Guitar Hero franchise, with two innovative new gameplay modes and an all-new guitar controller.
